Default potential auto. tranny problems

hi everyone

i started my car up today and started driving and as soon as i started moving in D the transmisson gauge on the lcd display lit up red.

it wasnt in fail mode, because it still shifted perfectly just couldnt use the tip. drove for two minutes turned the car off and back on and it didnt show up again.

also when i got my coil packs done the dealer told me that i had a tranny leak. i said BS to that cause i had the car for 6 months by that point, i would of realized it by now also it still shifts smoothly. could this be the problem? im hoping this is a one time thing.....any insight to this problem will be great

Having the same problem. This is considered "Limp Mode". Car runs great, shifts fine, and only has happen'd twice since I owned the car. I never drive this car in Drive. Alway tip mode.

No CEL's but I have to turn the car off and restart. The shop I took it too says its the motherboard underneath the shifter. Approx 125.00 is what I was quoted. However, I have another problem... About to start a new post. Might be related...

see wut i always thought was that limp mode was when it was flashing and the car only worked in 3rd gear so the car can 'limp' home

but im glad to hear for your part as well that it is an electrical problem rather than transmission problem. i was gunna try to go to autozone today and get codes to see if it can be anything else.
