Hey everyone,

I've been having the CEL pop on a few times on my 2002 Audi A4. There was a torn vacuum hose going from the combi valve to the manifold, I replaced that, and had the codes cleared. The CEL came back on after another ~250 miles of driving, and I decided to have a local mechanic take a look at everything. He found that the relay and fuse were in working condition, but when he supplied power to the SAIP, it did not run.

Now, I'm stuck looking for a SAIP, obviously Audi wanted an outrageous amount of money to fix it...$540.00 for the pump and $180.00 in labor, saying it takes 1.5hrs to fix. My mechanic told me he could do it in about 45 min or so for 60 bucks. I found the pump for $200.00 on ECS tuning, but feel like I should check Ebay or local places that rebuild parts.

After that explanation, I have three questions for all of you: 1) If the SAIP is not running, does this mean I have to replace the combi valve as well? 2) What would you all suspect a fair price would be for the pump? 3) Is the labor simplistic enough so that I could replace it on my own?
