Well I recently (Through the forums) found out about the SAIP, after I shat bricks and came on here to ask. I know the SAIP is there to warm up the car and all that good stuff, my question(s) is. Is it normal for it to turn on if the car is started in a 60oF+ environment? My temp gauge today said 70 when I turned the car on and the SAIP went on.


Also, how loud is this thing supposed to be? I was driving my gf to go buy crap and she just asked why it was so loud. I told her what it was (SAIP) but then asked myself why it's so loud. Literally if you're outside and the SAIP goes on with the car starting on, you can barely listen to someone 2-3 feet away from you. Is it normal for it to be this loud? Also, the first time I ever head the SAIP was the day after I took my A6 out in the snow (Mountains). I'm relieved that the high fan noise is the SAIP as I found out, but then again worried as why it's so loud, and comes on during "warm" temps. Any givers?
