Sealant when installing oil pump to block?

Sealant when installing oil pump to block?
I have a 2002 A4 Quattro 1.8T B6.
When installing the oil pump, should you use sealant where the pump makes contact with the block (the place where the oil is actually transferring from the top of the pump to the bottom of the block)? I'm getting conflicting advice on this.
