Well, war is hell. 
Actually, the Q5 would be an awesome vehicle, if you've got a thick wallet.
Don't forget about the A6, which has an incredible safety record for the 2005-2008 model years. There was some safety report released about a month ago talking about safety, and the A6 was one of only 3 vehicles which did not have any reported deaths for that time period.
But then, if you stay in the Audi family you're still stuck with all those "fun" repairs to do, or pay for.
