hello all! im thinking about getting an 02 a4 for 6k. it has 99k on it. 1.8t engine with the auto quattro tranny. anything i should look for? i like the car alot but i hear a lot of things about oil sludge in the 1.8 engine and as a college kid i dont need to be having those problems with that kind of repair! can anyone give me some advice? should i buy it or stay away?

 

$6K is too much. Make sure the timing belt and components have been done. Read the forums for a list of what kinds of issues you can expect.

If you are a college student and don't have a spare couple thousand lying around for repairs and maintenance, get a Honda or something. Seriously. Go looking for like a $500 beater.

 

forgot to add that i is a one owner car and all the repairs and oil changes were done at the local audi dealership if that should have any influence on my deciding. thanks
