Transer case and tranny oil types...
Hey, does anyone what type of oil goes into the transmission and transfer case oil. I just bought an a4 that was sitting for 2 months and as the tow truck was pullin it up...the wheels were locked. Im not sure if maybe the oil on the transfer case is low or if the transfer case it bad....but either way what type of oil do I use??? thanks for the help in advance.

The front Differential, Center (Torsen) Differential and Rear Differential us a API GL-5 rated product. 75W-90. I use Mobil 1 Synthetic 75W-90 gear oil.
I changed my center and rear differential oil but I haven't figured out how to drain the front diff. Center took 0.8 qt and the rear took ~1.6 qt.

On my '02 A4 Quattro Automatic, the center differential oil is separate from the transmission oil. It is bolted to the rear of the transmission case though. It has it's own drain and fill plug. The service manual I have says 75W-90 synthetic. It is where the Torsen is located. This makes the torque equal to the 4 wheels. Not sure of exactly how it works but it does.
