Transmission help
Hi everyone,i just bought a used B6 A4 with problems, wish i did more research first. It's 2002 1.8T FWD tiptronic{guess that means CVT,could be wrong}Ok,here we go.The car hard starts then shuts off.I was told before the car was parked for about a year it was smoking badly and might be the turbo went bad.now i looked at the fuel pump and it has some gunky build up on it. This gas has been in there for over a year i suppose. Their are no engine lights on in the car and it passes the systems test.I checked for codes and got the following, p0722; p1793; p1857; p1775;p1757. I called an audi dealership and spoke to a tech that works there and he told me those codes point to a bad TCM.I live in the caribbean and a new TCM here is $14000+ excluding labour. Then i gots to buy a new turbo, new fuel pump etc. Can i swap out this motor for another 1.8T motor and gearbox.i can get from the UK where they are right hand drive. If i do change this engine and transmission, would i also have to change the instrument cluster key etc? or what would you all suggest? Please help as i really need some further info from knowledgable ppl. Thanks.
