Question Transmission leak

Hey all... I have a small leak coming from the very back end of my transmission ('04 1.8T Quattro Auto/Tip) right where the transmission meets up with the shaft that runs to the rear diff. Does anyone know what it would take to fix that? Name/part number of the part (I'm assuming it's some kind of seal). And I should use redline mt90 fluid, right? Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

That would be the rear output seal you are talking about. It's kind of an involved project to replace. You need the seal and should also get the CV joint to output flange gasket (seals the CV joint grease) and new driveshaft bolts. The exhaust has to come down, then the heat shields and the front of the shaft and center carrier. I cna't recall off hand if these simply have an allen head bolt to hold the flange to the output shaft or not. Be sure the CV joint and the flange are marked so they go back in the same orientation to one another (to prevent vibration). Also, don't let the driveshaft "hang" on the rear joint. They shouldn't be moved more than 15 degrees (what ELSA web says anyways). Unless you're familiar with this type of work, it may be worth having the dealer (or other Audi knowledgeable shop) do it for you. Sorry, I don't know the part numbers of the pieces needed, I'm a tech and leave that stuff up to the guys over in parts!
