Hi everyone! My turbo is starting to go bad and I'm looking to replace it. Does anyone know if the S Line turbos are different than the base models? I've looked on a few websites and the replacement parts say they fit the base model but not the S Line. Does it really matter? I just want it to run good and stop ticking / whining.

K03 vs k03s?

Not sure if newer models all had k03s fitted but that was certainly the turbo fitted to 180bhp and 190bhp models if I recall correctly, the 150bhp models had a k03

 

Thanks for the reply. I am going to attempt to swap the current turbo with a used KO3 that was given to me. Hopefully this will work ok. If not I guess I will look for a KO3s.

 

If you have a model with more than 150BHP and it fits - it should theoretically still work but it will shorten the lifespan of the turbo though as it will have to work harder than a K03S.

It is worth checking exactly which turbo your car has but being an 05 s-line 1.8T I'd assume it's a K03S fitted as standard and 180BHP.
