Vibration in an Audi ... doesn't make sense.

I had the same problem, vibration when idling. Almost to the point that it felt the car was going to stall.
Had it at the dealer yesterday, they were suprised that no check engine line ever came on.
Problem was a clogged fuel throttle. Replaced for $125 and car is perfectly fine now.

If its the Fuel Injectors, wouldn't the cylinder miss-fire and thus a CEL comes on ?
Quite the opposite. If it were the coils, the ECU can readily detect that and throw the CEL at you. With injectors, they get noisy before they crap out completely, and the ECU doesn't have a means of detecting that.
