Default Weird, Weird, Radio

Has anyone else had this problem:

2004 a4 quattro. Symphony 2.

Took car into dealer to check out the check the check engine light. No issues, they cleared the light and now the fun begins. I locked my car went into work came out to move it 10 mins later and the radio was on before I even entered the vehicle. Along with that if I shut the car off, radio goes off with it as well, the radio will turn itself back on 10 - 15 minutes later. Also, I cannot insert cd's only eject them, i cannot use my radio preferences, all I can do is change the station with the dial, and raise and lower the volume. Any help would be appreciated.

Things I've tried: pulling out the #39 fuse. I've done this a few times, even let it sit for awhile. As soon as I plug it back in the radio starts right up without the key in the ignition. (Currently pulled, i'm afraid that the radio will kill the battery).

I've unhooked the battery for 20 mins or so hoping it would kick the radio into safe mode. So far it doesn't display "SAFE". One time it said "FM AS", and now it says "FM RDS OFF" or something around that.

I'm thinking of putting in an aftermarket deck hoping to alleviate the issue. Any thoughts? Or do I just drop it off at the dealer and pay the big bucks to get it figured out?

Update: finally got it to move into SAFE mode so I could actually turn the thing off. Then I plugged the top plug in. Turned car on, radio still off. Fixed. Now the radio is working fine.
