Default Window regulator or motor?

I am having problems with my driver side front door window.

The window is having problems going up and down.

There are cracking noises comming from around the motor.

Winow seems to be tracking OK.

Any opinoins on whether this is the motor or regulator?

I'm thinking regulator.

Working the window up/down loosened things up a little bit. The noise now mostly occurs just as the window is going up, and a couple of inches from closing.

Thanks,
Mike

When the regulator breaks the window will roll down with the motor but not up. It
will also gradually slide down on it's own.

Also normally cracking noises is the regulator.

The window doesnt go up or down and before this happened there was lot of squeaking and cranky noises. Like thing is getting crushed inside.

Should i buy the both regulator and window or is this just a regulator. I am buying the parts and later get them fixed by someone who can do a DIY at home.

Any suggestions??

You could probably do it yourself. Check A4mods.com or AudiDIY.com, there's plenty of them there. Or there's also a sticky posted by Auditech79 on the top of these forums.
