If i dindnt have audi care and the lifetime powertrain warranty that requires the change by the stealership it would do it more often than the 10k oil change recommendation with their castrol.

Why? Isn't that a wast of money? I also use mobile 1 0W40 and I change it, along with a Mann filter, every 5.5k-6k miles. What's the point of increasing frequency, just to feel good about it?

i suggest any oil that ur shop is having a special on.....make it synthetic 0w-40 and you'll be fine

i usually go for the fram oil filter but again whatever works

as for frequency, audi says every 10k but i say thats bullshit i don't care how good an oil is 10 thousand miles is alot of wear n tear on a engine i switch every 5k and the oil that drains out is pretty bad stuff so i can only imagine how bad the 10k sludge looks like

Yeah it's dicey. Lot of people do argue in favour of advancements
in the oil technology, and that it's OK to change every 10k. May be they
are right too, guess they wouldn't say that if their engine developed
problems with oil change every 10k. Anyways, if you love your car, better
to to err in the side of caution.

Still trying to find a good place to do the oil change after every 5K in
my locality(other than the dealer, who wouldn't do it less than 10K
miles anyway). Not many shops do Audi/BMW, from what I've seen.

Any suggestions would a be great help(I live in Sunnyvale, Bay Area)?
