2006 Avant 2.0t Fuel system problem- HPFP?
So my 2006 A4 avant 2.0t has had a problem in the fuel system for probably two months now. There is a constant hissing, chirping, gurgling sound coming from the rear of the motor area, that I can feel in the rubber fuel line coming in from the tank/fuel filter. It's right around the HPFP/throttle body hard lines. No power on acceleration under load (going up a hill or when I put it to the floor, it will downshift and top out at 4500rpm). Using more gas than usual it seems. Not really missing. In fact pretty smooth, starts easily. Just noisy sounds (pssssts and shshshts and high pitch chirps like birds under the hood). CEL. I get the P2293 code and a P12A4 code and of course took it to audi hoping for a new cam follower, cam and hpfp. They opened it up and said that all looked fine. I also opened it up and agreed that it all looked fine. Normal looking wear. They suggested changing the low pressure pump. I did. No change. They also suggested the filter. I did. No change. I also changed the fuel pump relay, thrust sensor, the low pressure sensor, the fuel pressure regulator valve, pcv, and a few months back, the injectors, plugs and coils. I cleaned the evap canister to resolve a tank pressure issue. I basically only have two things left. The HPFP and the fuel pump control module. At this point I'm just throwing money at it. Tempted to just buy the older/cheaper H version of the HPFP and hope it solves the problem. Thankfully I've been able to do all of the work myself. Now the wife is demanding I trade in the ride for something reliable. But it's my ride and I want to keep it going, even with its quirks. My basic scan tool is telling me my fuel pressure is getting up to around 1815 psi. Is this high? Scan tool only gives me a freeze frame and not real time monitoring. Trying to make it all work on an artist's budget. I appreciate any help here.

You might find the following link helpful.

It is the Design and Function of our motors. You name it, it mentions it. The fuel system is on pages 17-30. The fuel system varies between 435 and 1595 psi. Anything over 1740 psi opens a pressure relief valve.
