adding aftermarket remote starter
ok so im lookin for some advice/opinions from anyone that has added an aftermarket remote starter to their a4. i have a 2008 2.0TQ auto. i wanna keep it kinda cheap so i only need a basic remote starter, no two-way remotes or extra alarm ****. i know ill need a bypass module but can i use a cheap key from ebay if i get it programmed at the dealer? any recommendations for a good brand? what was the final price (key and all)?
thanks

sorry i have nothing to add to help you, but if you speak with a professional about installation of a plain-jane remote start, ask if its possible to have it powered by the power from the panic button on your factory key fob... im very curious if this is possible. i refuse to have a second remote/fob just to remotely start my car.
and lets face it, the panic button is pretty useless, and in the perfect place to not accidentally start ur car when the fob is in ur pocket.

That sounds like a good idea but I don't think it would work since they prolly wouldn't be able to reprogram the key and the short range would be almost useless. But I was lookin at the cheap systems at bestbuy that have a small fob with one or two buttons since I don't need remote entry or an alarm
no not rewire the remote. my thought process is, if the remote sends a signal to your alarm system, that signal emits an electrical current to make ur car beep.. but instead of the electricity going to a "speaker", have it rewired inside the car to power the control unit of your remote start. as for distance, thats understandable but i would think as long as i can do it from the window in my house without going outside, thats far enough.
