Brake pads change
I have 2006 A4 and ran about 30600 miles.
When I step down the brake, it sounds screeeeeching..
is it time to change the brake pads? Front or rear or both? I thinkg if I bring the car dealer or repair shop, they would say change all four wheels//
So usually around 30000mile car should change the brake pads Front or rear or both?
anybody have changed brake pads at dealer?
May I know how much is the cost?
is there somewhere cheaper than dealer? How much they ask??
The factory warranty doesn't cover the brake pads any of audi dealer?
Please help me!!! Thanks..

For the squealing, that's unfortunately normal. It comes and goes on my car. I first heard it around 15k miles, but now at 20k I'm not hearing it too much anymore.
As for when you do need to change them, they have sensors that should let you know. It'll be a lot cheaper if you get aftermarket pads and change them yourself. I haven't done that yet myself, but I've heard it's not too hard.

I thought I needed pads also but the dealership told me that there are sensors that indicate when the pads need to be replaced. He did say something about the aftermarket pads not fitting correctly. I'm thinking he wanted me to just come in and pay tons of money to have them replace it.
So it is better wait for the sensor.
Thank you guys.
What about premature brake pad factory warranty? I just heard from my friend that if the brake pads need to be replaced before normal mileage, they should give us the warranty coverage. I just heard, didn't try yet. anyways, I'll just wait for the sensor on.

Screeching is bad. If anything it's your front pads. Change then and do not wait for any mythical sensor or it will be too late on your rotors being scored.
I have not changed front pads on these cars but I did the rears on my B6. The rear piston had to be pushed in while turning clockwise. Took some skill without the proper tool. Not sure if the fronts are the same or not. Rears usually don't go until 75K and up. Most brake power is on the front pads. BTW cheap pads fit fine.
