A/C blowing hot air
2008 A4 2.0T, about to hit 100K miles. The A/C started blowing hot air yesterday in traffic and when stopped, but otherwise blowing cool air on the highway. Also, the coolant warning light came on briefly.
The dealer said that 2 coolant fans needed to be replaced, and that the coolant reservoir sensor was bad but otherwise no coolant leak. From what I read, this make sense from the symptoms. Strangely though, he said the fan issue and sensor malfunction were unrelated. If so, would have to be quite conincidental since both problems occurred at the same time.
Is there anything difficult labor-wise to replace these fans? Online, coolant fans seem to go for max $250 and come as 1 assembly. But the dealer is quoting $1200 for the fan replacements. This seems very high, even for Audi parts & service at the dealer.

Are you sure the dealer didn't say it was the fan controler that needed to be replaced? that's what they told me anyways. I have the same problem and had read another thread whereas the condensor was just clogged up with debris. Going to power wash the condensor first before I do anything.
