Changing the remote only on 2006 Audi A4 (B7)
Hi all
I have an 2006 Audi A4 (B7) and the remote on one of my keys is no longer working. The key will still manually lock and unlock and start the engine.
I have changed the battery and tried a variety of methods found on the forums to reprogram the key but to no avail. I have also switched the battery with the one in the spare key (remote working) to make sure I didn't change the old battery with a dud.
I think there may be something wrong with the actual remote itself and it will probably need replacing however have read about the immobolizer (which I don't understand too much about) and having to have the Audi dealers reprogram it for me.
I found this item on ebay which I have considered buyin gbut not sure what the interaction with the immobolizer will be and whether it will interfere with my current working key...? Remote Central Locking Kit AUDI A2 A3 A4 B6 B7 A6 S4 S6 includes HAA key blanks | eBay (i have just sent a question to the seller and awaiting his response).
Any help would be much appreciated! TIA
EDIT: I have taken it in to a local garage who specialises in European cars and he said he's been able to get the remote programmed for about 5 minutes but then it loses it's memory and drops out again and the remote stops working. Any thoughts?

Hi,
To reprogram key to car after battery change, simply put key in ignition, turn to ON and press lock key on fob. Remove key and FOB should now lock/unlock.
If the car is not remembering the setting after 5mins try the fusebox, may have a short-circuit.

a fuse has absolutely nothing to do with you key memory.
You have a bad key. It is possible to disassemble the key from the remote.... but you have to be sure that the key you are buying it compatible. The only way your going to know is to run the part number thru the Audi parts department with your VIN. The remote may still need to be programmed by the dealer. The ignition and hit the button is just a resyncronization trick it doesn't always work for first time use on new remotes.
