Default Confidence is growing..Air Filter change

Okay got getcoolparts.com on line the other day and ordered an air filter. Made by Mann and was much cheaper with shipping than going to my favorite auto zone. While pulling apart the air filter system and plenums I noticed this cool extra filter! I put it under soap and water to clean it..note how dirty it was after 24k. Did I do the right thing and how often if ever should this high tech filter/screen be replaced? thanks! OBTW the guy at getcoolparts.com was very helpful. Am thinking I will order new upgraded replacement bulbs from him cause my old eyes at night like better pure light!

I think it's just a screen, so as long as it doesn't tear it shouldn't need to be replaced. It sure doesn't hurt to clean it out, though. As you noticed, it does get dirty!

Oh forgot to mention and appreciate those in the know here on the forum saving the readers some change...i bought a bosch wiper set too...saved me about 45 dollars over autozone. the wipers after 14 months of use are starting to smear a bit...dont mind paying for wipers when they last so long. Not sure how long most readers have gotten out of their wipers but i figure if my car was made in mar 07 and i bought it in aug 07 changing the wipers after that timeframe is appropriate...on my american cars wipers dont last long and have bought better wipers e.g. bosch for them now! but got those at autozone.

Air filter arrived with bosch wipers...got the wipers on and the air filter installed! I certainly like doing the light maintenance on the vehicle...just was scared to do anything for so long! all is well now!

Yeah, once you get into it it's pretty fun. Before I got this car the only thing I'd ever done was pour in a quart of oil or put air in the tires... now I'm doing all kinds of crazy stuff!

Before this car, everything was so simple raise the boost.... okay lets poke a whole in the vacum line to the wastegate acutator.... Now it takes a more gentle touch. Working on these cars is really bringing back the love i had for tunning

this site and audizine and audiworld and a4mods are great sites with tons of useful information. once u start u cant stop! did u just throw in a new filter in the box? the little screen is just in place as a stopguard from the frontairthose.
