Engine Codes
I have a 2005.5 Audi A4.
Engine is totally dead. Im trying to buy a used one but I have come across this problem.
My mechanic says my current car had a engine code of BPG. I've looked around and I've got quotes from several places. Some say engine code does not matter, while other say you have to use the same engine code for your car.
Does anybody know if you can use a BWE for a BPG or any other type of engine codes?

It is more a matter of how much work you are willing to do/pay for. The easiest (relatively speaking) route is to get an engine with the same code (identical) to what is in your car now. That way it is a straight up swap. Going with any other engine code (as long as it fits) will involve varying degrees of modification to operate properly in your car.
