Thumbs up Is it even possible????

Hi guys,

Anyone else here just not feeling the overall look of the vent mounted boost gauge? I understand that the posible locations for a gauge are limited, but I really feel it takes away from the classiness of the interior.

My question is... (Is it possible to install some type of pressure sensor & then have the ECU programmed to give a digital readout on the dash in PSI or BAR to indicate manifold pressure?) My idea being based on, that if Audi's ECU has the ability to decipher low tire pressure & then give feedback to the dash. Then maybe a good programmer can find a way to take advantage of this feature to communicate Boost Pressure???

I'm assuming that since tire pressure monitoring is an option on our vehicles, that all the ECU's have the ability to control this feature? Am I dreaming or could this be a real possibility???

Thank you for listening, any input would be appreciated...

Lol idk if its possible but i do agree with you on the vent mounted boost gauge, they have one that goes on top of your steerign column on ECS TUNING but that one also is iffy :/

I imagine it's possible, but nobody's done it. I seem to recall something like this for the B6.

because Audi doesn't believe there is a logical purpose for the driver to know what psi the turbo is running at.

Its monitored and limited by the ECM and the ECM makes adjustments for it. Whether the driver knows they are boosting 6 psi or 60 psi doesn't make a difference. Just like there is no oil pressure gauge.

There are faults for both underboost and overboost. You will throw a fault for one of these conditions.

They don't design cars to suit the aftermarket needs of the driver...... because in all honesty. The majority of "mods" that almost all of you do either actually decreases performance and/or engine life.

So in a nut shell, Audi has either forgotten about their racing heritage. Or the general public has forced them to dumb down there vehicles in an effort to keep things minimal? I personally like having the option of monitoring the vitals of my engine. But I think for the cost involved in purchasing one of their fine automobiles, that they would include more then just the basic gauges. I mean I recall Audi putting in almost everyone of their early 80's to mid 90's vehicles a nice set of VDO instruments to keep an eye on things. Can't they find a way to bring back the past???
