I have been down this road too. You can look on ebay and might find one that matches. Black seems to be in abundance.

I bought a whole armrest unit for $100, but turned out to be the wrong color.

You can also try a recycler - copartfinder, etc.

genuinevwaudiparts seems to show an armrest door in all colors for around $90 and have toyed with ordering from them, but am not sure how the removal/installation of the door will work.

I ended up using neodynium magnets mounted in the armrest and the lid to keep it closed.

I am in the same boat, and the magnets are the way to go. I went to my local hardware store and bout a magnet/plate set that is designed to latch a cabinet shut. Paid 99 cents for it, and another dollar for some super glue. Much better than the 160 bucks the dealership said it would cost to replace the lid.
