I made to NC, the B7 runs great. I am going to need a auto repair shop here soon. Washed and waxed today and found soo many stone chips in the hood and above the wind shield. That really sucks so I spent some time doing touch up work. Have lots more to do.

So it's been a while since last post. 115000.00 on the OD, so my question to any one willing to answer. Is she worth putting a stage 1 kit on?, if so what steps should I take on getting her ready for one?. I have to hang on to her for at least one more year if not two. The A4 runs great I have been keeping up with the maintenance. Just tow new fuel pumps and fuel filter last month $$$$.

Really I think you need to answer your own question. I would be hesitant to spend money on upgrades to a car I only planned on keeping another year or two. Now, if I was hanging onto it for several more years than I would consider making changes/upgrades. I think with a stage one you don't need to make any changes to the car. For later stages is when you need a better fuel pump, etc...

Well it's been a while since last post, have been here in the south for a year now. Very busy year and more to come. As for the B7, new fuel pump went in and a Turbo PCV. I do notice a difference. Boost pressure feels like it's up i am looking into the Blue tooth OBDII dongle for her.

if you're still looking for a obdII reader, i recommend grabbing a cheap bluetooth one on amazon or ebay and getting the torque app for $5 on android, should be on iphone too. the app does more than most people would need but its awesome. there is a free version if ya wanna try it out but some things are blocked

Thanks imaudi5000 will give her a go. Also I almost forgot if every one can remember the RPM problem where there surging anywhere from 500rpm to 10000rpm. During the summer months here in the south my B7 stopped doing this. So I have to believe that it's definatly has to do with the out side temp and the temp of the engine. BUT I have made some repairs this summer to her and will have to wait and see if any of those will effect this trouble, keep you posted.

Same exact thing here. It was pretty noticeable all winter. Once the weather got hot, it's quit doing it except for VERY lightly when I first start the car in the morning and drive away from the house. It's almost imperceptible, though, and stops within a mile.

I still believe it has something to do with fluid temp, but I can't explain how it can persist in the cold months even once everything is up to running temp.

Just a thought it could be a vacume trouble when a hose heats up reseals it's self. I don't see how any engine/trans fluid would affect this or make it happen. I will research this just because I don't want to say KingWulfgar is wrong. All my fluids got changed just over a year ago now, the surging happened before and after. I just put a new fuel pump and filter also a Turbo PCV. Some Blogs say auto trans trouble but the trans is not slipping, shifts smooth. Trans service was done to the B7 May of 2015 this was not real costly so it was worth doing.

The RPM surging is a classic torque converter failure symptom. I've logged some TC slippage with VAGCOM, but it's somewhat near the low end of what the TSB says indicates bad. That's why I still suspect that is the issue. Also, a transmission fluid change seemed to help for a bit, but then it came back and I can't afford to have that done every 6-12 months.

I don't see the TC slippage with mine, nothing shows up. Can some one explain why only in the colder months?. My trans fluid was changed over a year ago and this summer i'v had no surging at all. This winter this will be on my radar.
