Default Hello New Guy with a question

Im new to Audi, but in no way new to the family. I have been a VW dude for awhile now. Just bought my wife a 2008 A4 2.0T I own a very fun modded GTI. My questions is and I have searched trust me I have searched to no avail. The A4 is completely stock, last night from a stop I wanted to just mash on the gas to see what this car can do stock since I have forgotten what a stock 2.0T can do, but for some weird reason the rev would not go pass 6k I had the foot all the way down and the engine was loud but the gears wouldnt change nor the rev go pass 6k or so and it seems the car was not going any faster. No CELS car has about 26k on it and I was on "D" Mode. Sorry for the long post any help or insight to this matter will help. Thank you in advance.

Is it a Quattro or front wheel drive? I ask, because if it is a front driver and you have the CVT transmission, you won't see a drop in revs.

Yeah Front wheel drive, could it be the limiter?

That is what I'm thinking. As it happens, is the road speed increasing at all?

No Road speed seems to stand still as well...if it was increasing it was very very slow. Also It was on WOT to the point where the pedal was also pushing that button underneath the pedal never did understand what that button was for.

Yeah I put it in S mode and it was revving just fine and pulling just fine. I have never experienced that before on d more though, my GTI is DSG and I put it on D mode at times and mash it and never have that issue. Weird.

With the CVT, when you're in D and you push the pedal down to the final stop, it keeps the revs constant at that point to maximize power and torque.

from what i understand, that 'button' under the gas pedal is like an overload button. i have a 08 tiptronic quattro and the owners manual says that if you are in tip mode and push the pedal far/hard enough to push the button the car will automatically down shift (as if in D, to protect the engine/transmission and achieve the acceleration you need)
