how to change central locking
hi,
help please. im after what is the cheapest and best way to change the following:
1. id like to change from 2 press on the keyfob to 1 press on the keyfob and all doors and boot are unlocked together
2. id like the 'chirp' to activate when unlocking / locking the doors
&
3. id like to alter the steering wheel controls so that on the thumbwheel the track change up is for forward and down is for backwards.
the small amout ive read seems to point to the VAG-COM cable and s/w but i dont know the exact one i'd need!
is the above all doable with this cable and software???
many thanks in advance

I think you can do #1 with a cheap VAGCOM-USB cable and the free version of the software. That's how mine works, but I can't remember if it's something I recoded or it always did that.
#2, I don't have a clue and #3, I very much doubt you can change that without rewiring something.

It's way cheaper to just hit the button twice to unlock. I've had VW/Audi products for 12 years, and am just use to it. Tampering with the settings might also disable the feature that relocks the car with in 30 seconds if you havent opened the car. I've accidently hit the button once or twice unlocking the car and didn't know it until the car relocked and beeped letting me know.
Also, don't forget, if you tamper with the car software, and take the car in while it's on warrenty or certified pre owned warrenty, you might void your warrenty, causing the dealer to void any repairs. Audi can be funny about that.

It doesn't. A lot of these options are standard settings for other countries. Just save screenshots of what the settings were before you tinker and you can always put it back.
