Default intake cam

Hey everyone. I was just looking at ECS tuning and their deal stuff and came across intake cams. Out of curiosity I looked at them and read their description of it and they say that early 2.0T engines are prone to intake cam failure. really?? apparently its soft and can fail? I haven't once read this on here before but I'm concerned now that i've read it on their website...anybody else heard of this?

It's related to the cam follower wear/failure.

This.

The reason the cam shaft fails is because of the cam follower.

Its suggested that you keep up with cam follower replacement like you would oil changes. Maybe not every oil change but definitely not something you want to put on the back burner.

Below is what you would be replacing.

ok that makes much better sense. I read it as the cam itself fails on top of the cam follower failing. oops. Yup I changed my cam follower a few months ago, bought the car back in march. Thanks for clearing up the air.
