iPOD query
Hi everyone. I've just bought a second hand A4 S-Line Avant. It's my first Audi after years of Fords and I just wish I had changed sooner
My query is that ive got an iPOD connection which I use my iPOD nano in. However the iPOD never charges. When I queried this with the Audi dealer I bought it off they said that the early iPOD connections DIDN'T charge the iPOD. However on reading the Nav System Plus operating manual dated 05.2007 that says that the iPOD WILL be charged. Which is correct the dealer or the manual???
Thanks

I can't speak to the Audi side of this, but as far as the iPod goes, what generation Nano is it? Earlier iPods charged via the Firewire pins on the dock port. I think they've all switched over to the USB pisn at this point and most 3rd party devices you buy charge them via the USB pins.
You may be able to get an adapter from Apple to allow a device (your Audi) that only charges via the USB pins to charge an older iPod. Not sure if they still have them or not. One of my friends had this problem with his wife's VW a couple years ago.

I have a 2006 A4 with the in-dash changer/tape deck and Bose system. I'm planning on adding an iPod adapter eventually, but I'll probably just get a 3rd party one made for the Audi. I don't care about losing XM (since I don't pay for it/listen to it). Right now, though, I just roll with the tape adapter. I bought a little Belkin USB charging nub that sits in my 12v outlet under the ashtray cover and I can plug into power that way if i ever need it.
