K and N air filter
I've used K&N filters in every car I've owned for the last 20+ years with absolutely no problems (even non-performance cars). Even if there are no HP gains, paying one time $40 for a filter that you can clean vs buying a paper filter every year for $40 is more than worth it, in my opinion. So you're actually saving money to spend elsewhere in the long run.

I guess it all depends on your personal opinion. In those 20 years, have only had one MAF go, and that's because I had over 120k on the motor. It was due. I don't know anyone personally that's had that problem, but have read about it occasionally on these forums. I still think it's a bargain if you're going to keep your car more than 3 years.
