I have a 2006 A4 Quatro 2.0L which I purchased brand new in 2006. I remember the Miles till empty gauge reading about 500 miles to empty back then and now it only goes to 345 when I fill up the tank. I have been putting fuel injector cleaner and recently replaced the battery. I guess it could be the spark plugs, but I still don't understand how it could calculate an estimation of 345?

Anyone have any ideas?

How much mileage are you actually getting on a full tank? You first need to figure out if the displayed value has changed because the actual value has changed, or if somehow its calculation has gotten messed up.

 

if I fill it up till it almost spills out, the display will start at 520 and drop to around 450, although I'm usually averaging about 335 miles per tank. Mine has started at 350 miles before if I ran it all the way down to empty and then slowly went up, how far down are you letting the fuel level get before you fill up?

I go to work and back most of the time on the highway and used to be well over 200 miles at half a tank so I was averaging at least 400 miles per tank. Actually, after installing the new battery it is back up to 30 mpg on the highway. Perhaps the spark plugs are firing better. I haven't gone through a full tank yet, but we will see.

The miles left before empty on this Audi goes in increments of 5 until you hit zero and I normally go down to 15 or 10 miles before empty before filling up.

hcaudikeed, you must have a V6 or V8. 225?

 

v6, and i really am getting about 225 a tank.
