Need help! Car sounds loud instead of quiet.
No heels lol. Meaning I can't do it with sandals, boots or even sneakers, sandals fall off, boots are too big and sneakers just don't have the same "feel." Must be my big flat feet.
Anyway, keep us posted on any developments. The place I got mine from was not an Audi dealership and they had NO CLUE that these engines NEED full synthetic. I basically did the same thing you did, took it to the actual Audi/VW dealer for full inspection afterward. They said everything looked good but did not catch the oil. It would be interesting to see if the same thing happened with yours.

I can drive in sandals or boots too. Granted it takes me a moment to re-adjust my footing pending on what I am wearing but I have become very flexible.
I really do appreciate all your help Damaniac311. I'll be honest I feel a bit stupid, already needing help and it doesn't help that I don't know Audi's well yet. I know we all start somewhere but I hate being so clueless when my Layla isn't running right. Just leaves me feeling so uneasy.
I will definitely keep you posted and don't worry I will be getting to the bottom of the oil.

***Update***
I just spoke with the Audi service manager. Layla goes back in this Friday morning to be looked over and to have the recall issue fixed (again). :/ I was told it was fixed but my CEL keeps coming back on and off. Had the code pulled over the weekend and its saying what was supposedly fixed already. Service manager can't explain it, but assured me it would get figured out and fixed. It'll get fixed or else!
Layla will also get looked over for this loud engine sound while running. I told the service manager about it and she said there is only so much they can do, which imo is a crock of crap but whatever I guess... not much I can do. I told her it was still under warranty and I didn't care if they had to take apart the engine to find out the issue that it was under warranty and needed to be fixed right. I plan on calling my salesman and telling him the same thing. Or else they can have her back.. I love Layla with all my heart but I am not even about to pay for a massive expense when this issue has been present since before I bought her.

P0089
According to an Audi manual that code does not exist. But in AutoZone's system under Mazda and Chrysler it comes up as a fuel pressure regulator. Which ironically is the exact same thing I was told was recalled and fixed before I bought my Layla.

OK well that's good, though it doesn't help the noise issue.
I'm wondering if the code P0089 could be caused by the high pressure fuel pump. There is an extended warranty on the cam follower/cam/high pressure fuel pump for 10 yrs or 120k miles on many earlier B7's. The cam follower is a known issue on the earlier B7's and if it wore down enough to affect the fuel pump then theoretically you should be covered under that extended warranty.

I have no clue right about now and it kills me to know I have to wait til Friday to know anything... ugh. :/ Hopefully you are right about the warranty factor, but with my luck it won't apply for some stupid reason.
Right now I am just hoping whatever it is can be fixed and won't turn into an epic failure once the warranty drops off from the dealership. I've owned a car before that a month after I bought it had complete engine failure. That was not fun to deal with and I rather not be down that road again with Layla. I'm sure replacing an Audi engine would not be cheap either!

The ticking noise is normal..... that knocking sound isn't.
You sure it wasn't P0087...? Thats the code for a faulty HPFP and camshaft.
I dunno..... if i were you and you are "friends" with these people. Ask them to put another 2.0 A4 right next to yours so you can compare the sound.

Knocks are never good. So in your opinion what could the knock be? Do you think it has something to do with the camshaft?
Yes positive it was a P0089.. I saw the code when it came up. And the Audi service manager told me there was a recall that involved the fuel pressure regulator, so it makes sense. I hope that's all it is.
Anyways, I did not think they made an A4 in the 2.0 with the turbo?? And comparing sounds would be a good idea but impossible to do. A newer A4 would be redesigned and may or may not have the same issues that a B5 or B7 has. IMO, you would need a B5 or B7 to compare sounds, but I could be wrong. I know they don't have any used Audi's on the lot either so unfortunately a comparison that way couldn't be done. But if I see one out and about, maybe I can get the owner to let me listen for a bit.
Nevertheless I really won't be able to do anything til Friday comes along. I think actually hearing the sounds makes a huge difference then just being told there is a sound or what the sound is like. It obviously helped in this situation.
I appreciate the input though, thank you Audi Tek. I am glad that a master Audi tech finally chimed in!!!
