So the shop I goto for work said it could possibly be the valves and to see if the knocking gets louder when you get on the gas or not....

Here is the video....

I'm totally screwed aren't I??

So that couldn't be the fuel pump whacking the cam lobe Tek? Even though it's not 0087?

Hey Audi Tek....

Would running another diagnostic on her even help? I'm just curious because if they did in fact run a diagnostic on her before I bought her and nothing came up, then who is to say something would come up with a second check? Am I better off having them run a compression check or take something actually apart to find what is causing the knock?

Thank you for asking....

Layla went to Audi yesterday morning... I meet the tech who was going to be checking her over personally and explained to him what you and Audi Tek where saying.

The tech believe that the low side fuel pressure is causing the high side to knock because its not running 100% right. Both are covered by a recall but until the low side causes my CEL to come back on for the dealership to be able to pull the code they can't do anything because Audi is that strict.

Does this make sense anyone?

I get what the tech was saying and it does seem logical, but I want to know what you guys think.

I suppose anything is possible at this point. Odd that it's a recall yet they won't do anything without a CEL. My dealer replaced 3 recall items and I didn't have a CEL for either of them.

Its not a recall.... Its an extended warranty. So if the problem happens even though the car is out of warranty they'll still do the repair.

I've never heard the bad cam lobe and follower make that sound before. It sounds like a diesel. But perhaps the sound is applified by your recording.

Pretty much your going to have to wait for them to finish the repair and hope that fixes it. I hope it does, I hate to see you have a bad experience with a nice car.

and for clarification 2005.5 to 2008 is a B7 and they're are only 3 engines available. The 2.0L Turbo, 3.2L V6, 4.2L V8 and they are all the same across the span of years.

^SUPER DUPER helpful!!! Thank you sooo much Audi Tek!!!

I could have sworn she said recall, but your probably right about it being apart of the extend warranty. Because that would make more sense about the CEL needing to come back on first so they can do the work without a cost to me.

The recording was done on my cell, a Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Verizon. It's not the best way to record a video of that kind, so I don't doubt the sound is amplified.

I honestly HATE having to play this waiting game for this damn CEL to come back on so there is no charge to me. And I seriously hope that after the work is done that all the bad noises will be gone and I will not have anymore issue with her. I really do love my Layla.

Thank you for chiming in Audi Tek. You have been super helpful and I really appreciate it.

Indeed anything is possible at this point. I love Layla to death but I have seriously had thee worst luck with her since I have bought her.

First the damn knock and tick sounds. Than someone back into her and broke my side mirror on my passenger side. Than this past Saturday I was at my nephews baseball tournament and she got scratched really badly. FML! --- Got a quote today, if I don't claim it on my insurance it will cost me roughly $600 to fix her.

Yikes. I think your luck is rubbing off on me, because now I have what seems like a boost leak. :/
