I've had this problem for a while and it seems to be getting worse. I took it to the dealer and they said they could not get it to happen.


When accelerating from 40mph or so, usually going up hill at around 60mph the car seems to get stuck in gear and won't shift, even if the accelerator is floored, speed is slowly lost and the rpm's decrease. It's very dangerous as it usually occurs in a passing situation. basically all forward acceleration stalls.

once I get back down to about 40 the car will downshift and take off again. It just happened last night, again passing, and I couldn't get around. Check engine light came on, and then went off today.

I don't know much about the autos because I have a manual. If you had a CEL it should retain the error code. Run the code to see what tripped the light and then post it here. People on this forum will help you out if they can. Keep us updated.
