Default PCV Question

Hi,

My PCV seems to be letting air flow through the small whole in the back on idle, does anyone know if this is normal?

Hey dazt. Not sure if that is normal or not. When my PCV went, there was oil being pushed out around the oil filler cap. If you have it off and it has never been replaced I would just put a new one on. PCV's are a common failure item on these models, mine went at 24tmls. I now have 63tmls and it is still good. Another item that fails (from what I read) is the DV's. I am going to get mine checked at 70tmls along with the cam lob follower. Audi has checked my Cam follower (every 10tmls) and it is still good.

If I were you and funds were there, I'd go ahead and buy the BSH PCV revamp they have available for I think $100. It's very easy to install and you shouldn't have to worry about it again. Also, there's a revision for the diverter valve that won't be prone to failing out there as well. I got mine from ECS tuning, thought it was $60. So if you have about $160 to spend, Id buy those and take an hour to install them. you won't be disappointed.
