Purchase an Extended Warranty?
My dealer has offered me the following, on my 2006 A4 2.0 t, currentlywith 42k miles:
5yr/100,000, $100 deductible: Cost is $2887
6yr/100,000, $100 deductible; Cost is $3356
Your thoughts, biting comments, and general advice would be appreciated--

You should ask to see details of what the warranty covers. Some of them are quite limited and wind up costing you more then they can save you. If you post the details here, I'm sure someone could tell you whether or not its worth purchasing.
Consumer Reports says that extended warranties are usually not worth purchasing. It's pure profit for the dealer and they are very limited in most cases. My husband bought an extended warranty for his F150. He never used it since the few times he took the car in he was told the issue was not covered under the warranty.
Having said that, the dealer where I purchased my CPO 2006 A4 included an extended warranty to 7 years/100K (no deductable) free of charge.

when i bought my CPO A4 it came with the extended warrenty as i believe the standard warranty expires after 40k? (but i could be wrong) and i bought mine with ~42-43k... so it really depends on how much you think you are gonna be modding you car and if its worth while as the dealer might be real picky and tell you that you have voided most things due to mods that you have done. so thats another thing to take into consideration
That is sound advice but also check out WarrantiesGoneWild.com
