Default Replace ashtray with what?

Hey,

What can I replace the ashtray with? Is there something cool out there such as a iphone/ipod docking station or something? Suggestions?

Actually I am not 100% happy with that product. After I study it it seems the only option is to install it INSIDE the ash tray and you actually have to have the lid open with that docking inside. I would much more prefer to rip of that lid and click or glue something over the ash tray hole covering it completely. Is there any products out there doing that?

Thanks.

Sorry, that's the only one I know of. I don't leave my iPod in there all the time (excessive heat/cold is not good for the battery), so for me, still having the cover attached would be a nice clean way to cover it up when you're not using the dock. To each their own, though.

I just don't want to spend the $150 and however many hours to tear my console out to install it.

You could make one yourself with flush mounted plastic or maybe a piece of billit alluminum cheaper than that. That way you could make it to spec for yourself. That looks very simple. I make studd all the time but I sold my Audi so i can't offer much more detail in this situation.

Well I'm planning this for iphone connection. I always bring my phone in my car anyway, this time I can connect to power with it, bring my music, get handsfree etc. So For me it would be perfect with a fixed connection instead of the one inside the ash tray. I am going to install a 2-DIN player (from my current 1-DIN) anyway so have to rip it apart. Was hoping to do everything at once though.

Was thinking about doing something customized stuff, but not really that DIY guy on those types of things. Have no clue how to do it beautiful I'm that guy who gladly pays 150 USD on something which is plug and play (at least to some extent).

I will consider purchasing one like this and get some car stereo company to mould some carbon fiber stuff or what ever to cover the entire ash tray and make a fixed docking station.

Anyway, anyone else reading this with other product tips or solutions, please fire at will

Do not know much about it but seems simple enough to make.
