Yeah the cam follower might be ripped up and fuel cuts could be the result.

THIS MAYBE DUPLICATE RESPONSE AS I NO LONGER SEE MY EARLIER RESPONSE TO YOU GUYS..

I replaced the HPFP, cam follower and pressure sensor two weekends ago (all factory parts from Audi). Oh the cam follower and pump I replaced looked brand new. Visually there was no wear on cam follower or cam lube, the pump also looked perfect from the outside.

Yes; this issue is nuts… tomorrow is Saturday so this week I’m going to look at all my fuel lines and see if I can find any restrictions (I did replace the external fuel filter 2 months ago). I also have a call to a friend to get me the VAGCOM software I already have the cable.

Any hesitation or vibration? Have you checked your PCV valve or breather hose? Worth a looksee - if it's shot it can cause a stall if you are at a stoplight.

Ok - something else for me to check in the morning. But remember my issue happens at the same (time/millage) everyday. Between 0-7 miles after car sits for more than 5 hours. 90% of the time it happens as the clocks rolls over to mile 3 the other 10% of the time it happens at mile 2 or 5.

I just wait for it to die stumble for 1-3 seconds then it recovers (I take my foot off the gas as I fear its leaning out).

Hey seriously this happens every time with NO exception. After the initial stumble it NEVER returns I drive for 4 hours straight or several short trips all day or night never comes back until the car sits for 5 hours. Then it starts all over again.

Thanks,

PB97

The software is cable specific. Which cable do you have?

Hi Guys,

I’m traveling when I get back to town (in two weeks) I’ll send a pic or part number of cable. Car parked now… thanks

UPDATE:

The issue has suddenly vanished. Remember this problem was very consistent. From cold start every morning and afternoon with 1-7 miles it would stall stutter etc. it was so predictable that I would just gentle come of the gas wait 1-2 seconds then back on the gas. Every day without exception.

Well I left the car for 2 weeks (my wife drove it once 2 mile to work and back) now the problem is gone. This is week 3 since I’m back and there is no sign of stalling. Very suspicious… not sure what to say.

The car was just sitting there the battery didn’t go dead or anything like that…don’t know what to say here… Anyway thanks to all the folks that responded to this post.

Cheers,

Hate to say it, but it'll be back, it's an audi.
