Things to check for before buying used?
My co-worker offered me his 07' a4 quattro 2.0T for 8,000$ and i was wondering what i should check for before purchasing or even if that is a fair price? It has 90k miles..but looks to be in mint condition. The only worry i have is one day after work i saw some blue smoke out of the exhaust when he was driving out of the parking lot. all help is very appreciated
That can be a number of things except good on the b7. If you didn't know someone extremely keen on the platform that also has vagcom, you'd be reluctant to buy this car. That's the reason you're here. Even a euro technician isn't going to be familiar with the ins n outs of it.
If you don't mind working heavily on an audi or paying for it go ahead. Price isn't bad, though I'd knock it down, at the very least, another grand. That blue smoke can be as bad as an engine rebuild waiting for the person who buys it. And who knows what smoke is emanating from your co worker's words.
Good luck.

Another thing is at 90k if the timing belt hasn't been changed that needs to be done. That will run you somewhere around $1k.
My 2008 has started to show blue smoke under heavy acceleration which, in my case, is the turbo starting to go bad. I have had very good luck with my car. At 170k in miles I have only had to replace the timing belt. Others have dealt with multiple issues.
