Default Trunk lid won't stay shut!

Hi there, been an owner for about a month now. Love the car, but there are a few minor issues I am working through.

The biggest issue now is the trunk. When is it cold or wet out, being Portland Oregon, that is always, the trunk does not want to shut. The latch simply does not engage when I attempt to shut the trunk.

Does anyone have any ideas on what needs to be replaced and how big of a deal it is to accomplish this? I'd love to get it taken care of before the ski season. Thanks!

Sounds like you just need some grease on the latch mechanism. Water in the air could be causing it to not let the spring loaded latch kick back out once its closed; or possibly the spring/latch mechanism itself is shot. Try shooting a bit of WD-40 or liquid wrench in the latch mechanism and see if that helps.

I'll give that a shot and let you know how it performs. Thanks for the suggestion. I sincerely hope that is all that is needed. I've fiddled with the internal, manual lever once when it was acting up, and it worked right after, but I don't know how much that had to do with it.

Thanks again!
