Yeah, that happens, at least if it's the original diaphragm diverter valve. The latest one uses a piston, so once you get that in instead you should be good to go.

It is easy to buy online, but it is NOT easy to change. The spaces are tight and it is very hard to get to the screws. It's doable if you have the car on a lift and maybe with the right tools, other than that you can forget about it. After fiddling around with mine for hours...jacked the car up and released on hardcover books which raised it another 6", removing the bottom cover, trying to remove the DV cable w/o having to break it...then I finally got to the screws, it was in my fingertips but I couldn't do a thing about it. 3 hours later, I gave up and put everything back together (another 30 minutes just put the damn cover back), drove the car down to my local non-Audi mechanic, paid him $25 and instructed him how to do it. It took us more than 30 minutes.

2wdBlazer, I noticed you had an '06 CVT and sold it, was that a 6-clutch plate and if so, were there any significant problems with that transmission? I have an '08 7-plate but with low miles (26,800) and not sure if Audi has really corrected the problem.

Mine was actually an 05.5. Not sure about the tranny. I never had any problems. I also had a B6 2003 CVT with no problems up to 100k and 90k on my 2005.5.

I really don't understand how you did not get the DV on though. I changed mine on ramps and had to fingertip it a little but was not hard by any means. I am no mechanic either.

you have sausage fingers? lol
