Default Two leaks, one car. Antifreeze problems

Well guys I’ve rolled 100,000 miles and now the problems have come. I have a B7 Audi with the 3.2 liter engine. As much as I love the 3.2, I hate that there are very few tutorials on DIY things. I am losing about ½ a quart of antifreeze every single day. I went to the shop and they did a pressurized test for like 30$. They said that its leaking somewhere near the water pump, and somewhere near the thermostat. So I have two leaks and a big job on my hands. I ordered the water pump and the thermostat from AutoZone. I ordered the other pieces from the Audi dealership. When I say other pieces I am referring to what the shop said I needed being: the O-ring, the intake gasket, the cross over pipe, and some washers. Guys I’ve done a bit of work on breaks and shocks and windshield wiper reservoirs and some other general things such as oil changes and things, but I don’t even know where to begin with this one. I know it is a big job, so if anybody knows of any tutorials from my car, or just has general knowledge on the job, please let me know. From what I understand it doesn’t have a belt, it has chains, so I don’t need to replace that like I would a timing belt, I just really need some guidance and general knowledge on what im about to get myself into. I have half of Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to work on it. Tuesday law school starts and I have to buckle down with my studies, this is honestly the last weekend I have to do the job, let me know what you know, even if you think I know how to do it, I probably don’t, this as simple as the cleanest way to drain the antifreeze would be of help. Thanks much!
Jake

I don't have any advice for you as that's well past my skill level and I have a 2.0T anyway. On a side note, they quoted you 8.2 hrs of labor for those two things? Ouch. You'll save a bundle if you manage to pull it off. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Candidly speaking, I think you might be better off going to that mechanic. Only the cam timing is chained. The 3.2 is belt driven crank timing and is a bit more involved than the smaller motors; you will be mitigating the steps to timing change basically to swap out those parts so you might as well change it. The legal process is an exchange of information and you have to do your research. Same applies here, Google is your friend. Good luck
