"If you purchased or leased a 2004-2007 model year Volkswagen Touareg or 2005-2006 Audi A4 originally equipped with factory installed high intensity discharge (“HID”) headlights, you may be able to claim a cash reimbursement for past repairs from the class action settlement. Class Members will also receive an extended warranty.

The HID headlight settlement will resolve multiple class action lawsuits filed in 2010 alleging that the vehicles were equipped with faulty HID headlights that would randomly flicker or shut off while the vehicles are being driven. Volkswagen denies these claims and maintains that the HID headlights on these vehicles function properly, but has agreed to extend the warranty coverage on them and to reimburse consumers for past repairs to resolve the litigation." Has anyone else received this information? Or found a fix for the issue?

If so, does the work on the car that has been done have to have been done while the car was still under warranty to qualify for a claim?
