Default What to do with my 2008 CPO A4 2.0T?

First time Audi owner though I traded in my 2003 Passat V6 for the A4. It's a CPO vehicle with 55,000 miles. I read the sticky about the cam follower, coil packs, etc. but was wondering what was relevant specifically to my situation with a 2008 CPO. I have warrenty until 100,000 miles. Should I do the things in the sticky? Are they all relevant for 2008? Is the warrenty a factor?

I'm also considering doing stage 1 chipping. Should I wait until after I'm out of warrenty?

I guess that's enough questions for one post. Thanks in advance.

The 2008 2.0T B7 is the same as the 2007 (engine wise) both came with a slightly modifed BWT engine. Can yours (or mine) have the same problems as in the sticky? Yes. It usually is not as common as with the 2004-2006 versions though (as far as I have read/seen). Main thing is to make sure your coil packs were switched out (Audi had a recall on these) and check your oil (all turbo's burn oil) and keep it full. Mine burns maybe 1 litre of oil every 10tmls and I drive it at an average speed of 100mph (German Autobahn). My car currently has 48tmls on it. The only problem mine has had was the PCV going bad, and two coil packs. Other than that, it has been a pretty decent car! I had Audi check the follower this year and it still looks new. The German mechanics I go to have only seen two fail in the last 5 years, one was an A6 and the other a 2005 A4, both with 150tmls plus on them. For piece of mind you can get it checked. Audi is aware of the problem and has issued a 10 year or 120tmls extended warranty on the follower and cam/HP fuel pump. I think right now it is only for the 2004-2007 models though. That may be because the B7 ended production in 2007 except for the US and Canadian markets. Germany & Europe came out with the A4 B8 in 2008. Since you have a CPO for 100tmls, you should be ok.

As far as chipping, that may void your warranty although I am not sure on that.

Anyway, enjoy your ride!

Supposedly they had better cam followers in 08. I would still check it if you are going to own it over 100k. Supposedly the DV was the better one in 08. Who knows what month they started going in. Check it. PCV was never perfected by AUDI but CPO can just change them easy as with the DV.

APR has a nice program that will hide the chip and put a lockout code in. I loved mine.

i would definately get the stage 1 chip. the car will completely change. don't worry about warranty. the engines are bullet proof.

the newest OEM diverter and PCV valves are also bulletproof. i think your engine has the newest DV (rev D i think). if you get a squeal noise at idle, the PCV needs to be upgraded. and yes, the 08+ have a fool proof roller type cam follower.

I've read up on APR chipping and what not, but what does the lockout code do? I don't recall coming across this before...

Keep in mind only the A4 B8 2.0TFSI (211 or 180hp 8/2008+) had the roller type cam follower. The B7's (2004-2008 200hp N.America) had the older type.

The lockout code prevents the APR programming from being accessed/switched until you enter your code. So you can put it back to stock and lock it, and the dealership can't easily tell that you're chipped.
