2.0T Power Delivery Problems??
I'm considering purchasing a 2.0T A4 but have read of some power delivery problems. Specifically, on another Audi forum, some B8 owners have described the power cutting in and out between 3000-4000 rpm's. Has anybody experienced this problem or other power delivery problems with the 2.0T? By the way, all who reported this problem were driving manuals. Thanks very much.
that's nonsense. the power delivery is smooth and never gives up. although it's only a 2 liter it pulls like a V8. the turbo spool becomes a non factor when you drive it in S mode (automatic) because the RPMs are held up high compared to D mode.
I've definitely experienced some power loss at higher gears around 3k rpm. Initially, I did experience the power cutting in and out when accelerating at or around highway speeds (eg: on ramp and when trying to pass.) However, power cutting in and out seems to have diminished with more miles as I get just plain power loss in the above conditions.
To me, the issue is a failure to downshift. Basically, when trying to pass or accelerate, if the power loss kicks in, I can either floor the accelerator to hit the bottom click switch and the car downshifts (easing off the throttle after the click), or shift the car into S mode where it automatically downshifts. RPM's don't go off the charts after the downshift, so to me, it just seems like a result of fuel economy based transmission shift mapping.
