Angry 2009 Audi A4 Issues

My name is Chris and I can't wait to engage in this group as much as possible and retrieve info to be able to do most of my own work on my car.

Situation: A few months back I had "Ignition Lock Failure" show up, it went for a while and never did have any issues really with the ignition lock. The past week the car just stopped starting. There was absolutely zero signs of anything wrong, (other than the ignition lock failure) so I figured my ignition switch had crapped out. Replaced it. I push the key in and I can hear the locks engage and then disengage. Had the battery tested, and it's fine. Since changing the ignition switch and battery, on top of the car still not starting, when I open the door and I hear the fuel pump prime the dome light turns on at the same time, obviously. The weird part is, is the dome light turns off at the same time the fuel pump stops priming?

I believe my next step is the starter or alternator, but what would cause the dome light to turn off with the fuel pump?

All the other lights stay on, the floor lighting, the door lights etc.

Thanks,
Chris

My son's car was doing the same thing (minus the dome light thing) and it ended up being the starter. Replaced it and works perfect now.

Thanks!! I'm going to get the car scanned, but I feel that may be the culprit. And after doing research, it can't possibly be in a worse spot in the vehicle.

UPDATE: Had the car scanned. It's a PAIN IN THE *** due to the fact we can't keep power to the ignition, therefore it won't stay connected regarding diagnosing the issues with the no start. We can connect to all other parts of the vehicles and run them through the scanner, but we can't connect to the engine, as there's nothing from the ignition. We checked literally every single connection, relay, fuse and fuse panels, there is power from front to back. But there's a broken link somewhere stopping power from staying at the ignitoin. We can't get the trouble light to light up when checking the accessory fuses, as there is no power going to the accessories. I've changed the ignition switch as I was getting "Ignition lock failure" and the battery. Even if it was the starter, wouldn't the MMI and accessories still light up? Even if I depress the brake pedal, the brake lights don't turn on? I can manually turn the steering wheel on, but I'm literally getting two seconds to the ignition before the locks release my key again.

Any insight? The mechanic is still reading through some things. But I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this?

Thanks,
Chris

So we finally got a code related to the ESL. This will disable all accessories and starting of the vehicle due to it being a part of the anti theft. Anyone have any insight on the best route possible to take with this? I don't mind replacing the part, but how do you reprogram it? I can't find anything and I've been searching for hours.

TIA
