Default 4000km, burning oil

Hi, everyone, I'm driving a 2009 a4 2.0T, the car has just put 4000km and today the yellow engil oil light is on, I went to the dealer today, they told me this is normal, and just sold me 1 litter castol 5w-40 full synthetic oil.

I wonder is this really normal? Does anyone have the same problem? thansk!

Seem a little ridiculous that a $30,000+ luxury car is burning oil that fast.....

no it is normal as stated in the manual, normal range of engine oil consumption would be a 1/4 Us quart, which explains your oil engine oil light lighting up, therefore, normal oil consumption would be around 3/4 quart of oil.

First off, you should be checking your oil often enough that you never see that light on. Burning a little oil is "normal" for some engines while others never seem to burn a drop...really just the luck of the draw but not indicative of the quality of the engine or car. Just check your level every time you get gas and top off whenever you get 1/4 or 1/2 low. I wouldnt' worry a bit about one quart in 4,000KM but you do need to be dilegent.
BTW- I have heard of some manufacturers claiming 1qt in 600 miles is the level at which they will repair and engine so I am pretty sure Audi will tell you the same

I was not expecting this out of A4, my Civic does not burn oil that much. I'm also expecting my A4, lets see how much mine burns.
