Burning Oil
My 06 2.0T A3 has around 4100 miles on it. The engine light went on last nite indicating low oil but it was midnight and I was about 80 to 100 miles away from home. I drove it home and this morning after i warmed my car I checked the oil level it was really low. Like in the C section if you refer to the manual. When I opened the cap there was smoke coming out but just very lightly....IS THAT NORMAL? I added a quart of Mobil 1 0W 40 and now the level is normal. How can the engine burn a whole quart of oil in just 4000 miles.....
Any suggestions or experiences will be greatly appreciated ....

The "smoke" was the thin film of oil that managed to get to your upper engine being cooked off by the scorching hot engine parts the oil is there to keep cool.
4000 miles IS a bit soon for a brand new car to swallow a quart of oil. Perhaps the cap was missapplied, or something like that. Were it me I'd take it back to teh Stealer and have him check the mota for leeks, if it swallowed another quart ANYtime within the next year/year-and-a-half...
