A4 TDI Turbo blown
Turbo Blown
Hi All,
I have a 2011 2lt A4 TDI on 73280miles I bought the car 9 weeks ago and have only done 2200 miles in it.
Monday I was driving along and my car started to lose power no warning lights or anything it would just not go past 2k revs.
When i stopped the car and restarted it the car still ticked over fine and still no warning lights.
I checked my oil level on the dash screen and this was showing max.
So when i tried to pull off the car would have no power and stall once 2k revs was hit.
I phoned the AA who came out and the patrol man took a pipe off and placed a piece of cardboard over the pipe, which he then removed and there was oil on the card when i asked what that was for he said he was checking the EGR valve.
He then returned to his vehicle leaving mine ticking over. In the meantime there was then a fair bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust.
The fella then came back and said it looks like your turbo has blown starnge as no symptoms just what i said earlier no problems at all before today.
So he then recovered me to the Audi Garage as i sat in the car he told me to just put the igniton lights on as he was towing me.when i done this a warning then flashed up in red saying put oil in immediately i never started the car with this light on.
Audi have quoted £2600 for a new turbo and said there maybe more damage when the new turbo is fitted as there is oil in all the pipes
poss another £1500 on top.
Has anyone else had a turbo go with no warnings ?
