Default auto sticking in second

about three or four times a week my B8 2.0T quattro tip seems to get "stuck" in second as I accelerate from stop or slow roll...I suddenly find myself going 40mph in second with revs topping 5k. Even when i let off the gas it remains in second, so i'm forced to manually shift up (i have the sport paddles). I'm not able to replicate at will, but it does seem to happen when I'm accelerating hard or up hill. I have about 2.2k miles on it since buying in december.

Anyone else experience this? Seem serious?

btw, got a nice courtesy call from audiamerica, and the rep said to follow up with them if dealer doesn't address the issue when i take it in for 5K

Funny you bring this up. This just happened to me today when pulling a left turn from a stop sign. after the turn, i accelerated and was going abt 35-40 mph in 2nd gear.

i'm hoping its not a serious problem.. but guess we'll find out when Audi gets back.

BTW, i have a 2.0T quattro prestige.

Yeah. This appears to be a problem.

Happened to me today also. Similar thing, 30-40 mpg revving around 4-5k. Terrain was completely flat and I wasn't even trying to accelerate hard.

This issue seems to only be when the car starts on an incline leading on to a flat road.

I'm bringing it in to have the dealership check it out anyways..

i dont think its a real issue. my car does that too and its a 99. i think its just the tranny is one of those learning trannys that automatically make shift points based on ur driving. if im going uphill for about 4 blocks and then i turn onto a flat road, itll take longer to shift for a few blocks, then it readjusts if i drive normally (very little throttle). my .02.
