Exclamation Automatic or Manual???

Ordering a new 2013 Audi A4 Prestige, and don't know if I should opt for the manual or the automatic! Any suggestions?

Is this even a real question or are you just pulling everyone's leg?

Manual, hands down, is a better transmission for this engine.

Manual is more fun and reliable.. but if u live in high traffic area in the city it can get frustrating.. plus I herd if u stop n go a lot more its also most likely it will wear out Ur clutch sooner.. correct me if I'm wrong cause I always wondered bout that too

LOL ADK - seeing he has 3 posts I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I've had three A4's over the past 10 years, all with tiptronic, and have never had a single issue. Like soul says though, depends on what traffic you'll be driving in - unless you are a purist driver. But if you are asking the question then you are not a purist, so my guess is you need to weigh the pros and cons.

I just switched from automatic to manual and I would definitely go with a manual. I have an A4 1.8T and it is so much fun to drive as a stick.

It is very easy to pick up. Almost everyone is capable of driving a manual, but not everyone has learned how. I was capable of driving my car by day three.

I love my manual. I had to argue with the dealer to even get them to order mine, they tried to sell me an automatic off the lot. I am glad I got the manual! This car is so much fun to drive, and every time I get a regular old boring loaner from the dealer I realize how much the automatic takes away from the experience.

I had a '08 2.0T manual that I loved and swore I'd drive until the wheels fell off it. You can't beat a manual for control or fun. However, after 15 years of commuting in NYC and Seattle with a stick shift, I just traded in for a '12 avant automatic because the clutch was killing me in rush hour traffic. And it's still way fun to drive. That 8-speed tiptro is silky.
